What to Expect
With the wide variety of specialties and certifications available, finding the right plastic surgeon in Beverly Hills for you can be a confusing process. Since plastic surgery often involves surgery on delicate areas of the body, selecting a plastic surgeon who is qualified and board certified is essential.
Your plastic surgeon should be board certified by the American Board of Plastic Surgery, which is the only certifying board for plastic surgeons accredited by the American Medical Association. Every practicing plastic surgeon also has substantial hospital experience, including peer observation of surgical technique and ability. You can always request information about the hospital privileges of a plastic surgeon that you want to learn more about. Your surgeon should be willing to share his or her background and experience without hesitation.
Valued for his expertise and gentle care, Dr. Warren Lent attended Yale University and has been certified by the American Board of Plastic Surgery since 1993.
A consultation with the plastic surgeon of your choice is the first step you will take in beginning the process of figuring out what surgery is right for you. Your consultation is an opportunity for you to share your concerns and desires regarding your surgery with your surgeon.
Your initial consultation lays the foundation for your surgical procedure where you will share your medical history and insurance information with Dr. Lent's helpful assistant, Henny. Henny will carefully guide you through the various procedures of your interest, sharing before and after photographs of similar surgical procedures.
After your preliminary introduction, you will meet directly with Dr. Lent. Your consultation with Dr. Lent will begin with a discussion of what you want to achieve from the surgery, including a review of your specific medical history and an examination of the areas that you would like to alter. He will then discuss with you in further detail his recommendations and the optimal surgical procedures to achieve the results you desire. Dr. Lent will carefully go over all the risks involved, the benefits of the procedure, all the steps involved, and realistic expectations of results. Your consultation is the best time to ask all your questions and address your concerns. Dr. Lent will ensure that you are knowledgeable about the procedures that you will be undergoing so that you can feel comfortable and confident about your surgery.
Following your consultation with Dr. Lent, you will meet again with a staff member to go over the scheduling of appointments, insurance, fees, and any additional questions that you may have. You can call the office again at any time to get answers to your questions. The consultation will take about an hour to an hour and a half, long enough to allow you to acquire a thorough understanding of the procedures and address your concerns.
Before you have your surgery, there are several steps you should take to prepare for your meeting with Dr. Lent and for taking blood tests. Prior to your surgery, you will meet with Dr. Lent in order to review your surgical procedure, take pre-surgery photographs, address questions, review all the steps before and after surgery, and receive any necessary prescriptions. This meeting occurs generally about one to two weeks before your surgery.
We follow this meeting with arranging blood tests that you may need depending upon your medical history and health through your private doctor or a referral.
Plastic surgery is one of the safest types of surgery and should be conducted with care and respect in a hospital or surgical center that is accredited. The location of your plastic surgery must maintain exemplary standards for the care of patients including regular monitoring and support from nurses, as well as access to the latest biomedical technology and specialized equipment.
On the day of your surgery, we recommend that you arrive one or two hours before the scheduled time in order to fill out additional consent forms and other paperwork as well as to meet the anesthesiologist and nurses.
If you are accompanied by friends or family, we will provide them with estimated times for surgery completion. After surgery, you will remain for another hour and a half in the recovery room. All patients should make prior arrangements for pick up after surgery accompanied by friends or family back to your home or to an aftercare facility.
Dr. Lent will meet with you after surgery within a few days following your procedure to inspect the site and recommend any medications or after care procedures. Following the post surgery instructions carefully is by far one of the most important steps you can take in ensuring the best results from your surgery. Follow-up appointments are held at successive intervals as necessary. After you have recovered from surgery and are fully healed, you can enjoy the results of your plastic surgery. Patients experience increased self-confidence after surgery because of improved body image and self-esteem.
Dr. Lent has a variety of financing options available to you with lending banks and associations to help finance your surgery, if needed. Credit card payment is also accepted. If applicable, your insurance company will be billed and any remaining unpaid balance is your responsibility. Bring your insurance papers with you. All account balances are due within 30 days of notification.
